Annmarie Scanlan BSc. (PT)
Annmarie Scanlan grew up in Victoria, BC and has been a physiotherapist for 26 years. She earned her physiotherapy degree at the University of British Columbia in 1994 and completed a residency in Advanced Manual Orthopaedic Physiotherapy in 1999 in San Francisco, California.
Since then, Annmarie’s work experience has included treating patients in acute care and rehabilitation settings, occupational rehabilitation clinics, orthopaedic outpatient clinics and in-home physiotherapy. She has worked with patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions such as hip, shoulder, lower leg, back, neck pain / injuries, as well as neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinsons, spinal cord injuries.
During the Covid 19 pandemic, Annmarie has been assessing and treating clients online. Prior to the closure of physiotherapy clinics, Annmarie was working at SOMA Active Health and also was treating clients in their homes. The website for her home practice can be found at www.activatehomehealth.ca.
In the clinic setting, Annmarie is trained in providing IMS (Intra Muscular Stimulation), which has been particularly helpful for patients with chronic shortening of muscles. She is also a highly trained orthopaedic manual therapist and has an excellent knowledge of the progression of rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions.
